Hubris
This is my bragging list.
Places we have lived. Some of these places were short-term while we were doing ministry:
- Barcelona, Spain –September '06 to July '07 as Covenant Project Missionaries
- Seattle/Tacoma area [multiple places and churches in multiple phases of our lives]. I was a pastor at Newport Covenant Church for 5 years.
- Lakebay as Interim Pastor at Lakebay Community Covenant Church
- Monterrey, Mexico –home for 11 years as Covenant missionaries
- San Jose, Costa Rica in Language school as Covenant Missionaries
- Chicago @ North Park Theological Seminary
- Pasadena, California @ Fuller Theological Seminary and Pasadena Covenant
- Waipahu & Manoa Valley, Hawaii with YWAM
- Singapore with YWAM
- Thailand…yes with YWAM
- Leavenworth @ Circle C Ranch, a Covenant Camp of the North Pacific Conference until circa ´90
Interesting [or weird] things about me:
- Animal noises I make really well: elephant, seal, monkey, pig, cow, lamb
- I have saved 3 people from drowning. I was a lifeguard and swimming instructor as a youth and like water
- I need a dog toenail clipper to trim my right foot pinky toenail
- I often "balk tackwards" [you read it right!] and have other verbal difficulties connecting the brain to my tongue appropriately—when I’m under stress it seems to happen more. Sometimes I just do it for fun. When I don’t do it for fun [i.e. a mistake] my children usually catch me and have a great laugh. Working with another language sometimes multiplies the funny sounds coming out of my mouth.
- I have terrible acrophobia but I also like to climb to high places (see photos to the right in my Flickr link)
- I have done an 8 day silent retreat in Mexico with a Jesuit priest
- I climbed Mt. Saint Helens before and after it erupted (I think a total of 2 times in each condition, see pictures of growing lava dome in my photos)
- I tripped up some stairs once and put a hole the size of my head into the wall [see the “Lighter Side” for full story]
- I broke a wall sized mirror in a video store in Mexico by walking into it [see the “Lighter Side” for full story]
